Local Support Groups
Y-ME affiliates offer free, in-person support groups led by trained facilitators and peer counselors in their local communities. Support groups provide a safe, welcoming space to share experiences, ask questions, and connect with others who truly understand the breast cancer journey. Below are the affiliates currently offering local support group programs.

Illinois — Y-ME Illinois Affiliate
Y-ME Illinois offers support group programming in the greater Chicago metropolitan area, serving one of the largest and most diverse breast cancer communities in the country. Programs include general breast cancer support groups, disease-specific groups, and culturally targeted outreach to Latino, Asian, and African-American communities through the A Day for You program.
Contact Y-ME Illinois directly for a current schedule of support group meetings, locations, and any registration requirements. Groups are free of charge and open to breast cancer patients, survivors, and their loved ones.
Indiana — Y-ME Indiana Affiliate
Y-ME Indiana provides support group services in the Indianapolis area and surrounding communities. The affiliate offers breast cancer support groups led by trained facilitators, early detection workshops, and breast health education programs. Y-ME Indiana also collaborates with organizations such as the Young Survival Coalition to address the specific needs of younger women diagnosed with breast cancer.

Tennessee — Y-ME Chattanooga Affiliate
Y-ME Chattanooga serves breast cancer patients and survivors in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area and the surrounding region, including parts of northern Georgia and northeastern Alabama. The affiliate provides support groups, breast health awareness programs, and outreach to rural communities and older women — populations who may face particular challenges in accessing information and support. The affiliate is especially attentive to the barriers facing women in rural communities, where treatment centers and support resources can be hours away.

California — Y-ME Southland California Affiliate
Y-ME Southland California serves the Southern California region, including Orange County and the greater Los Angeles area. The affiliate provides support groups, community outreach, and culturally sensitive programs with a particular focus on the Latino population — one of the fastest-growing communities in the region. A dedicated Latina taskforce of bilingual and bicultural members works to bridge language and cultural gaps and ensure that Spanish-speaking women have full access to breast cancer support and education.
The Southland affiliate also provides wigs and prostheses for women with limited financial resources, and connects patients with local screening and treatment services.
